The Prompt Gamma-Ray and Afterglow Energies of Short-Duration Gamma-Ray Bursts
I present an analysis of the γ-ray and afterglow energies of the complete sample of 17 short-duration GRBs with prompt X-ray follow-up. I find that 80% of the bursts exhibit a linear correlation between their γ-ray fluence and the afterglow X-ray flux normalized to t = 1 d, a proxy for the kinetic energy of the blast wave (FX,1 ∝ F 1.01±0.09 γ ). An even tighter correlation is evident between E...
متن کاملMass separator for radioactive isotopes
A new isotope separator has been designed, constructed, and put into routine operation for separation of 133Xe providing a major advancement and significant cost reduction in preparation of this radioactive isotope. The design features and advantages are discussed that expedite high purity separation of relatively small quantities of this isotope. These advantages could be easily used to expedi...
متن کاملGamma-ray energies in the decay of 38Cl.
In order to resolve a long-standing discrepancy of some 30 standard deviations between the two most precise previously reported values of the γ-ray energies in the (38)Cl decays, we have undertaken a new precision measurement of the decay energies using a variety of different sources for energy calibration. The deduced energies from the present work are 1642.668 ± 0.010 and 2167.395 ± 0.010 keV...
متن کاملComparison of Absorbed Fraction of Gamma and Beta Rays of I-124 and I-131radio-Isotopes in Thyroid Gland with Monte Carlo Simulation
I131 is a famous radio-iodine isotope in use for diagnosis and treatment of hyper functioning and cancerous thyroid gland. It is a nuclear reactor product; however nuclear reactor may be unavailable in some areas. Replacement by I-124 may be possible, another iodine isotope producible by cyclotron; a system more available than reactor. Here absorbed fraction of Gamma and Beta rays of...
